Thomas William Magrane, 95, passed away on December 12, 2023, peacefully at home in the presence of his loving family. He was the loving Husband of Kathleen (Delaney) Magrane.
Thomas was born on January 24, 1928 in Bronx, NY to the late Thomas and Kathleen (O'Connelly) Magrane.
Thomas served honorably and proudly in the Army during World War II in Japan. He was a well loved and respected teacher and head of the math department in the Plainview School District for years. He was an avid golfer and fan of the Yankees and Notre Dame. He was very active at Sacred Heart Church in Southbury over the years and was loved by all who knew him.
In addition to his wife, Thomas is survived by his children Nancy Piazza, Michael Magrane (Kathryn Magrane), Eileen Magrane, Allison Madison (Glenn Madison), and Susan Peters (Mark Peters); eleven grandchildren: Thomas, Kyle, Connor, Troy, Patrick, Kaitlyn, Jack, Samantha, Maggie, Anthony and Lisa. He was predeceased by his first wife, Joan Marie Magrane.
The family will receive friends and visitors on Monday, December 18th from 9:00 to 10:45 AM at the Daily Chapel of Sacred Heart Church in Southbury. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM. Interment with military honors will be held on Tuesday, December 19th at Calverton National Cemetery. It is suggested that contributions in his memory be directed to the St. Vincent DePaul Mission of Waterbury, 86-88 Midland Rd. Waterbury, CT 06705.
