She will be laid to rest alongside her husband, the love of her life, Archie Coughlan. Archie and Rose eloped on February 5, 1941 shortly before Archie entered the army during WW ll. After the war Rose and Archie settled in Harlem and eventually moved to the Bronx, New York.

Rose was preceded in death by her siblings; Catherine Elizabeth (Smith) Beam, Eleanor Frances (Smith) Gearity, Stephen Charles Smith and Dorothy Veronica (Smith) McMunn.

Rose was an active member of Holy Family Church in the Bronx and was a homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, reading and spending summers on the beach at her summer home in Highlands, New Jersey. Rose could often be found on her porch reading a book or enjoying a cup of tea and chatting with friends. She was fondly known as Aunt Rosie by her beloved nieces and nephews. Rosie was happiest when surrounded by her close friends, family, children and grandchildren.

Rose is survived by her loving children; James John Coughlan of San Francisco, California; Laurie Ann (Coughlan) O’Brien and son-in-law John O’Brien of Southbury, Connecticut. Her grandchildren; Kelly Rose (O’Brien) Carnevale (Ryan), Caitlin Elizabeth (O’Brien) Giroux (Christopher), Lauren Leigh (O’Brien) Wingen (Daniel), John “Jack” Patrick Archie O’Brien (Noelle) and Matthew James O’Brien; and four great grandchildren; Caroline Rose Carnevale, Jane Margaret Carnevale, Madeleine Elizabeth Giroux and Charlotte Claire Giroux. She also leaves several loving nieces and nephews who will miss her.
