SOUTHBURY - Robert A. Sgoifo, 66, of Southbury, CT, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2023 as a resident of the Motif Memory Care. He was the beloved husband of Fran (Vinciguerra) Sgoifo, and loving father to his children, Julianne and Andrew.
Born in the Bronx, NY to the late Ann (Garrish) and George Sgoifo, Robert's journey through life was marked by love, dedication, and a passion for family, sports, and good times. After his early years in the Bronx, the family moved to Tappan, NY, where he attended Tappan Zee High School. Rob was a pitcher for the High School baseball team and graduated in 1974. His pursuit of higher education then led him to PACE University.
Rob embarked on a distinguished career with IBM, where he dedicated 32 years of hard work and unwavering commitment. His strong work ethic was a testament to his character and values, earning the respect of colleagues and friends alike.
Rob had an unwavering love for baseball, particularly the New York Yankees. He shared this passion with his son, Andrew, by taking him to Yankee games in New York and even coaching his son's baseball teams. In earlier days, Rob had a deep passion for playing Softball and even played in a fast pitch league in New Jersey. He also had a deep appreciation for watching football and loved spending time taking care of their yard and landscaping.
But above all else, Rob's greatest love was his family. His wife, Fran, and their children, Julianne and Andrew, held a special place in his heart. He adored them dearly, cherishing the time spent together. Yearly trips to Old Silver Beach in Cape Cod became cherished traditions, and vacations to Atlantis in the Bahamas with both family and friends created unforgettable memories. His love also extended to his four-legged friend, Maisy, a rescue dog with whom he had a remarkable bond.
Rob is survived by his loving wife, Fran (Vinciguerra) Sgoifo; children, Julianne and Andrew Sgoifo; sister, Patricia Cinquemani; uncle, Andrew Garrish ("Uncle Andy"); nephew, Christopher Cinquemani; niece, Jennifer Cinquemani; great-nephew, Jayden; and many cherished friends that became family. He is predeceased by his grandparents, Anna and Andrew Garrish; his parents, Ann and George Sgoifo; and his brother-in-law, Frank Cinquemani.
