Tribute

Richard Joseph Maselli, 82, of Southbury, CT, departed this life on April 4, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband to Eleanor (Carlucci) Maselli.

Richard is a decorated Veteran and was a relentless hard-working provider his entire life, many times enduring on behalf of others, as he spent the majority of his career at Interstate Lumber. His love of all things New York Yankees and iPad games fill most of his down time, while visits to the local casinos were a favored trip, showering lavishing gifts on his wife was one of his preferred activities.

Richard was lovingly referred to as “Poppie” by those closest to him and was a fixture in the sun whenever & wherever available with classic country playing in his ears. When confined to the indoors, he could be found peddling away on his hand bike while watching game shows with his Hunzi. Most family members can attest to every photo ever taken with "the hand" and how he loved to tell his grandchildren he was from Galactica. He will be missed as a father figure, grandfather, and great grandfather by many.

Richard is predeceased by his father; his mother, Julia Anne Maselli, and both his younger brothers, Anthony and William Maselli.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Eleanor (Carlucci) Maselli; family, Joseph DeMilio his wife Carrie, and Tony DeMilio his wife Kathy; grandchildren, Joseph A. DeMilio, Michelle O'Connor (DeMilio) and her husband Christopher, Alison Cordone (DeMilio) and her husband Richard; great-grandchildren, CJ & Kaitlyn O'Connor, and Trever, Liana, Mason Cordone; his loving extended family, Anthony & Jeanie Marianni and their children Alana and Nicholas, and Pat & Eileen Dotoli and their children Patrick and Noelle; his sister-in-law, Muffalda Carlucci; his brother-in-law, Ben Carlucci and family; and all his amazing caregivers - especially those who became like family to him, Jonathan Ilunga and Gina Brennan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 17, 2023, at Sacred Heart Church, 910 Main Street South in Southbury. Carpino Funeral Home is honored to have been entrusted with Richard’s care and final arrangements. And in his memory, always cherish every day as you feel the sun on your face.
