SOUTHBURY - Richard M. Hulbert, 85, of Southbury, departed this life on January 30, 2020, in Las Vegas, NV. He was the beloved husband of the late Peggy (Molloy) Hulbert.

Richard was born on September 23, 1934, to the late Richard and Rose (Ayello) Hulbert. Richard grew up in Astoria, New York, surrounded by loving parents, aunts, uncles and cousins. At age 19, he joined the U.S. Navy and proudly served as a corpsman for 11 years. He and his wife Peggy married in 1958 and settled in Bronx, New York where they raised their three children. Richard was active in the community as a member of the Kiwanis Club and Scouting. Richard worked as a Personnel Director at Yonkers General Hospital and at the naval architectural firm of M. Rosenblatt & Son. Richard & Peggy moved to Heritage Village in Southbury, CT in 2003. He was an accomplished painter and enjoyed fishing, bowling, golf and gardening. He was a member of The American Legion and the Knights of Columbus. At Heritage Village, Richard was involved in numerous activities, particularly enjoying the Italian Club. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Richard is survived by: daughter Linda Kral and her husband, Richard; son Michael Hulbert and his wife Jian; and 5 grandchildren: Danielle, Matthew, Richard F., Nicholas, and Ke. Besides his wife and parents, Richard was predeceased by his son, Richard T. Hulbert.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 28, 2020, at Sacred Heart Church, 910 Main Street South, in Southbury. The family will receive visitors on Thursday, February 27, 2020, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Carpino Funeral Home, 750 Main Street South in Southbury.
