SOUTHBURY - Raymond Patchkofsky Sr, departed this life on March 7, 2020 at his home, after a brief illness surrounded by family. He was the beloved husband of Geraldine Patchkofsky. Raymond was born in Derby, CT on September 18, 1939 to the late Julia Jewtuck Patchkofsky and Albert Patchkofsky.
A 1957 graduate of Seymour High School, Raymond entered the U.S. Army where he was a specialist assigned as a wireman in the 25th infantry division, 125th signal battalion, Headquarters Company, Shoefield Barracks, Hawaii. After leaving the service, he started as a lineman for the Connecticut Light and Power Company, until he retired in 2001. A resident of Southbury since 1968, he became actively involved with the Boy Scouts of America, where he started as Scout Master for Troop 60. He raised three eagle scouts, and held various positions throughout his forty years of service, finishing as commissioner of Blue Trail District, where he was awarded the prestigious Silver Beaver.
An outdoor enthusiast, Ray enjoyed fishing, backpacking, and camping. Among his favorites were fishing the salmon river and vacationing in Maine. Later in life he enjoyed spending quality time with his grandchildren.
Raymond will be greatly missed by his wife Geraldine, sons Raymond Jr and his wife Pamela, Michael and his wife Susan, Steven and his wife Megan, daughter Jennifer Anderson and her Husband Michael, and brother Jim and his wife Carmel. He will be additionally missed by several nieces and nephews, eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren and a grand dog Toby. He was predeceased by his brother Donald.
The family will receive visitors on Monday, March 16th from 5:30pm to 8:30pm in the chapel at Sacred Heart Church in Southbury. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, March 17th at 11:00am at the Sacred Heart Church in Southbury followed by interment with military honors at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Watertown.
