Michael Nickolas, 80, passed away on December 23, 2022, at Danbury Hospital after a brief period of illness and a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Michael and his beloved wife Michele shared 20 years of marriage, having just celebrated their anniversary this past November.
Michael was born on June 23, 1942, in Port Chester, NY to the late Costos Nickolas and Filomena Bova. Michael grew up in Mamaroneck NY and graduated from Mamaorneck HS, class of 1960. Following high school, he started his career at IBM in their Mailroom and worked his way up to the position of Project Manager. He remained at IBM until he retired after 25 years. Michael served his country proudly in the Air Forces’ 33rd Airborne Squadron during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged on July 8,1965.
Michael loved all types of sports. He was a football referee and member of the Westchester County Football Officials Association for 25 years. Michael was also an avid golfer, loved to dance and watch his beloved Giants and Yankees. However, his most favorite thing to do was to spend time with his family and friends.
Left to cherish Michael’s memory are his wife Michele Nickolas, nephews Stephen Nickolas (Nicole), Christoper Nickolas (Marie), Bobby Carducci (Kamala), Ben Carducci(Phillamena), and two nieces, Veronica Nickolas and Christina Carduccci McMullen and their children. He also leaves behind his stepchildren; Tracy, Danny, and Michael O’Sullivan (Lauren), and 5 grandchildren; Peter, Harrison, Gillian, Andrew Manesis, and Jackson O'Sullivan. Michael was preceded in death by his parents Costos Nickolas and Filomena Bova, one sister, Marie Carduccci, and one brother, Steven Nickolas.
Family and friends may visit Carpino Funeral Home, 750 Main Street S., Southbury, CT, on Thursday December 29, 2022, from 4 pm – 7 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Church of Southbury, 910 Main Street S., Southbury, CT 06488 on Friday, December 30, 2022, at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in Sleepy Hollow, New York.
