Libertad Estrella Morciglio

Libertad Estrella Morciglio, a woman of strength and compassion, passed away on July 14, 2023, at the age of 75. Born on October 8, 1947, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Libertad's life was filled with remarkable accomplishments and a profound love for her family.

Throughout her career, Libertad showcased her dedication and commitment to public service while staying true to her fundamental beliefs and personal code of ethics. She was an agent of the United States Secret Service as part of the presidential detail for President Carter, where she exemplified professionalism and integrity. Breaking barriers and shattering glass ceilings, Libertad later served as Chief Investigator for the FDNY in 1982 and was promoted to Principal Investigator until her departure in 1984. Shortly thereafter, she began working for St. Christopher's in Dobbs Ferry, before joining Westchester County Child Protective Services. There she utilized her investigative skills to aid in protecting and advocating for the most vulnerable members of society.

Beyond her professional achievements, Libertad was a proud American, taking great pride in her country. As a mother and grandmother, she poured her heart into nurturing and supporting her loved ones, leaving a lasting impact on their lives.

She is survived by her son, Joseph Morciglio, his wife Elysia, and their children, Conor and Willow, who will continue to carry her memory forward.

Services to remember and honor Libertad will be held at Carpino Funeral Home, located at 750 Main Street South, Southbury, CT, on Friday, July 21, 2023, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 22nd at 10:00 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Oxford. Friends are kindly requested to gather directly at the church. Following the mass, Libertad will find her final resting place at Southford Cemetery.

Throughout her life, Libertad Estrella Morciglio inspired others with her strong spirit, dedication to service, and unwavering love for her family. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who love her as a shining example of strength, compassion, and resilience.
