SOUTHBURY - Lee Heinzman, age 74 of Southbury passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 14, 2020, at home.
Lee was born in Norwalk, CT on October 19, 1945, to the late Carl and Elizabeth (Herschel) Heinzman and was a resident of Westport, Fairfield, Shelton and Southbury, CT over his 74 years of life. A 1969 graduate of The University of New Haven, with a Bachelors Degree in Industrial Engineering, Lee went on to work for Raybestos Manhattan in Stratford, where he met his wife Bette. He spent a majority of his career at Davis and Geck in Danbury, and retired from Schick in Milford in 2011 - all in various positions of Facilities Engineering.
A summer resident of Southbury beginning in 1955, Lee and his family moved to Lake Zoar full time in the mid 1980’s.
Lee was a Past President of the Southern New England Chapter of the Antique and Classic Boat Society.
A woodworker by hobby, Lee was well known for his restoration of wooden speed boats and woodworking in general. He took pride in the boats that he restored and was always willing to help anyone who asked for his assistance. Lee also volunteered at the Southbury Training School Thrift Shop as a way of giving back to the community.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years and his 3 sheltie collies, Dakota, Cheyenne and “Miss Savannah”.
