Julius A. Szakolczay, age 94, passed away on August 14, 2023, in Waterbury, CT. Born on July 14, 1929, he lived a full and accomplished life.
Julius dedicated many years to Sikorsky Aircraft where he retired from.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Julius had a deep passion for art and painting. He possessed a remarkable talent and found great joy in expressing himself through his artwork.
Family was of utmost importance to Julius, he cherished his loved ones dearly. Recently, he experienced the happiness of welcoming his first great-grandchild into the world, a moment that brought him immeasurable joy.
Julius was an active member of Sacred Heart Church in Southbury, where he found solace and community. Additionally, he was a Veteran who proudly served his country in the United States Army.
Julius is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marjorie (Roman) Szakolczay, his son Barry Szakolczay, sister Ann Kovacs and brother-in-law Albert Kovacs, brother Ronald Szakolzay and sister-in-law Laura Szakolzay.
He leaves behind his daughter Sharon Martin and her husband Michael of Seymour, along with his granddaughter Rebecca Martin and her fiancé Eric Arsan, his grandson Patrick Martin, cherished great-granddaughter Remi Arsan, his daughter-in-law Cecelia Szakolczay and many nieces, nephews and friends who mourn his passing.
A visitation will be held in the Daily Chapel at Sacred Heart Church in Southbury on Thursday, August 24th, from 8:30 AM to 10:15 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM. Interment with military honors will take place at Nichols Farm Burial Ground in Trumbull.
