SOUTHBURY - Judith Arlene Fitzgerald, 84, was called to heaven on December 10, 2023 at Frederick Health Hospital in Frederick, MD. She was the loving wife of the late Joseph V. Fitzgerald for 59 years.
Judith was born in Brooklyn, NY to her loving parents Howard and Eleanor. She graduated from Erasmus Hall High School in Flatbush, and later worked as a legal secretary in NYC where she met and fell in love with Joe. Judy and Joe married and settled in Pleasantville, NY where they raised their three children. Together they enjoyed skiing, tennis and golf. They belonged to Mahopac Golf Club for many years and made wonderful lifelong friends. They retired to New Smyrna Beach, FL and to their summer lake house in East Otis, MA. Judy loved playing bridge and mahjong and spending time with her family.
Judith is survived by son Michael Fitzgerald and his wife Vilma Fitzgerald of New Smyrna Beach, FL; daughter Jeanine Powers and her husband Bill Powers of Southbury, CT; and daughter Theresa Shykind and her husband Dan Shykind of Frederick, MD. She adored her six grandchildren: William Powers, Bridget Parent and Kelly Powers of Southbury, CT, Lauren and Sean Fitzgerald of Blauvett, NY and Zoe Shykind of Frederick, MD. Judith was so happy to recently meet her first great grandchild, Emma Rae Parent of Southbury, CT.
Judith was kind, loving and strong. She was an incredible wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
