Jerome "Jerry" Crane, Sr.

Jerome (Jerry) Patrick Crane Sr. 86 of Fort Myers, FL died peacefully at home November 14, 2021.
 
Jerry was born on November 20, 1934 in Scranton, PA, to the late Patrick and Madeline (Ganz) Crane. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brother James Crane Sr.
 
Jerry was an Air Force Veteran who served proudly as an Aircraft and Engine Mechanic from 1954-1961. He worked for The Danbury Fair and The Town of Southbury for many years and most recently O & G Construction for over 20 years until his retirement in 1998. He was a member of Teamsters Local 677 since 1964, and American Legion Post 274 in Fort Myers, FL. He was a member of South Britain Congregational Church in Southbury, CT for 50 years where he also served as a Deacon.  Jerry and Bev loved traveling in their younger years. He was an advocate for the American Diabetes Association and spent many years volunteering with their Walk-A-Thon's. He had a passion for older cars and enjoyed going to car shows. Following his retirement, Jerry enjoyed spending time with his family. His 2 Grandsons were his pride and joy. His quick wit and sense of humor will be missed the most by his family.
 
Surviving are his loving wife for over 55 years Beverly Link Crane; Daughter Jeanne Crane-Shepherd and her 2 Sons, John and Jesse Shepherd of Southbury, CT; Son Jerome (Jerry) Crane Jr. of New Haven, CT and Son John Crane of Redding, CT; in-laws; nieces and nephews. He will be sorely missed by his wife, children and grandsons but he will continue to live on in their hearts. A Private Service was held at Harvey-Engelhardt Funeral Home in Fort Myers, FL. 

Calling hours will be on Friday, December 3, 2021, from 4-7 PM at Carpino Funeral Home, 750 Main Street South in Southbury. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at South Britain Congregational Church, 693 South Britain Road in Southbury.
