Jim graduated from Newark Academy, Newark, NJ in 1950 and from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1954. He then formed Hinchliffe Investment Management Company which he successfully ran for 15 years.
Jim was a member of various financial organizations and served on several school boards and church councils. In his personal life, Jim had a passion for teaching, sailing, and gardening. He was happy to teach finance/investing to small groups of people or individuals. For many years he volunteered to teach classes at a retirement community in South Carolina for residents concerned about making their retirement funds last. As a youngster, he became an avid sailor and was often found sailing the waters of Greenwood Lake, NJ. His love of sailing continued throughout his life as did his love of gardening.
