Irena Normandia

Irena (Papay) Normandia of Southbury, formerly from Maspeth, N.Y, passed away at age 90,comfortably on Oct 26,2020.  Irena was the wife of her predeceased husband and highschool sweetheart, Robert A. Normandia Sr. and  married for 68 years.  She was born in Ridgewood, New York to Jennie and Joseph Papay and survived by her sister, Wanda Heaney of Bridgewater, Ct.  Irena was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  Her children, Donna Saporito (Frank), Andrea Proeschel (Fred), Roberta Ward (Paul), Robert Normandia Jr “Rusty” (DonnaMarie), loved her dearly, along with her grandchildren, Kris Proeschel (Joe), Alyssia Saporito, Karyn Proeschel (Jason), Jenny Proeschel, Daniel Ward (Charlotte), Andrew Proeschel, Philip Saporito, Matthew Ward (Vi), Clarice Proeschel (Z) and great grandchildren, Madeleine and Elijah Mintz and Colton and Ryan Ward. 

 Irena loved spending time with her family, reading, crocheting an infinite number of afghans, which she would gift to people in appreciation, and quietly sitting and listening to the birds and watching nature on her deck.  Sadness is all upon us at this time, but I’m sure dad was waiting with open arms!
