Gerlinde Heinlein

SOUTHBURY - It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gerlinde Heinlein (82) formerly of Dix Hills and Glen Cove, NY.  

Born in Augsburg, Germany, she was married to her beloved husband of fifty-six years, Michael G. Heinlein, until his death in 2020.  She is survived by her children Dov (Susan), Christopher (Colleen), Anthony (Sherry); grandchildren Michelle, Carly, Patrick, John, Matthew, Brooke, Anthony; and predeceased by her sister Irmhild.  

Gerlinde worked at Pan American Airways in the Pan Am building in Manhattan from 1960 to 1990 and then at Delta Air Lines at JFK International Airport from 1990 until she retired in 2002.

In addition to being a loving wife, mother and grandmother, she was an avid gardener and ran several marathons, including NYC, LI and Honolulu.  

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on February 7th at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Southbury, CT.  

Friends and family may call on Sunday, February 6th from 2-5 PM at Carpino Funeral Home, 750 Main Street South, Southbury, CT.
