WATERTOWN - Gary R. Garozzo, 59, of Watertown, CT, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2021, at the Vitas Unit in St. Mary's Hospital, Waterbury, CT.
Gary was born on July 21, 1962 in Milford, CT to the late Philip and Henriette (Janssen) Garozzo.
Gary loved all kinds of music especially Oldies, including songs by the Beatles, the Beach Boys, all things Motown and his ultimate favorite "Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head". Most of all he loved being with his family, friends and caregivers. He was affectionate and sweet. He enjoyed going for car rides, receiving Music & Massage Therapy, and his favorite foods especially apple pie, chocolate pudding and spaghetti with meatballs.
Gary was a cherished member of his family who taught them all patience and to treat others with respect, dignity and love. His love was unconditional. He touched countless lives and inspired some to pursue a career path caring for individuals with developmental disabilities.
Gary is survived by one brother Kenneth (Teresa) Garozzo and two sisters, Linda (Gerald) Livolsi and Diana (Anthony) Mennone. He also leaves two nephews, Christopher Garozzo and Mark Livolsi as well as four nieces, Carla Trueheart, Andrea Livolsi, Julia Mennone and Margaret Macri. Additionally he is survived by 1 great-nephew and 4 great-nieces as well as numerous cousins. In addition to his parents, he was pre-deceased by his beloved Aunt Min.
The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at Southbury Training School for 40+ years of the highest quality of education and care for Gary. He was always loved, well cared for and happy. Also, humble thanks to the staff at Oak Hill Watertown during the last 4+ years for their caring devotion to Gary's increasing needs. You all went above and beyond. Please know that everything you accomplished to make Gary comfortable was deeply appreciated.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, October 22, 2021 from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM at Carpino Funeral Home, 750 Main St. South in Southbury, CT.
