Gary Richard Bartel

SOUTHBURY - Gary Bartel, age 65, departed this life on April 14, 2019 in his home. Gary is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Jan Bartel. Gary was born in Des Moines, Iowa on July 17, 1953 to the late Richard and Elizabeth Bartel. In addition to his wife, Gary is survived by his two children, Katytarika "Kate" Bartel, Kip Bartel. and his wife, Alyson Wechsler Bartel, and their two children, Madison and Brooke, of Discovery Bay, California. Gary is also survived by his sister, Cathy Edgett, and her husband, Steve Edgett, and their two children, Chris and Jeff Edgett, of Mill Valley, California.

Gary lived a beautiful life filled with warmth, abundance, and joy. Gary brought passion and energy into everything he did-- from his work in elevator consulting to his artistry and personal hobbies. Gary enjoyed painting, nature, and the ocean. Gary was the Vice President of Edgett-Williams Consulting Group. He was a loving husband and father with an endlessly positive outlook on life. Sadly he lost his three-year battle to lung cancer this spring.

Gary's family is planning a celebration of his life and a memorial service in Southbury at a future date.
