Fred Savage Tribute

SOUTHBURY - Fred Savage, 84, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2021, following a brief battle with ALS.

Fred was born on February 12, 1937 in Shreveport, LA to the late Fred Hawkins and Zulene Hadden. Zulene would later go on to marry Tom Savage, who adopted Fred as his own son.

Fred grew up in Miami and Jacksonville Beach, FL, and he would often share stories of how much he loved and cherished his time there.

Fred graduated from Wacona High School in Waycross, GA, and went on to join the Air Force from 1955-1959. During his service, he worked as a load master and was able to travel the world, visiting all seven continents. It was difficult to visit places he had not been before, but we were able to find a few.

Following his service, he attended Ogelthorpe University in Atlanta, GA, earning a Bachelor's Degree in business administration. He went on to work in major consumer product companies as a customer service representative and a transportation manager for the military business.

Fred married Catherine (Czysz) Savage on September 24, 1988. They became proud parents of their daughter Allison in 1993 and they made many memories together. Allie was the sunshine of his life--his most precious little girl no matter her age. The three enjoyed traveling the world, taking trips to Disney, attending concerts and Broadway shows, watching movies and television shows, and much more together. Fred was an avid reader of history books, enjoyed watching classic films on TCM, and immersed himself in 50s and 60s music.

Fred is preceded in death by his parents Zulene (Hadden) Savage and Tom Savage, and his brother Thomas Savage. He is survived by his beloved wife Catherine, his loving daughter Allison, and his sisters Sally Hoy, Patsy Hersey, and Debbie Witt, as well as half brothers and sister, Steve Hawkins, Jeff Hawkins, Andy Hawkins and Barbara Frasier.
