Elizabeth (Betty) Beatrice Russo, widow of Patrick Louis Russo, passed away on July 26, 2020. She was the daughter of the late Carmelo and Lucia (Citarella) Roda of Darien, CT where she attended elementary school and Darien High School.
Betty resided in Greenwich, Ridgefield and Stamford, CT and Safety Harbor, FL and most recently Southbury, CT. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Church where she was an Extraordinary Minister of the Holy Eucharist and participated in the GIFT program, as well as cheerleading for the Walk for Haiti.
She enjoyed her Friday morning Italian language class and Cluster 17 picnics.
Betty was an avid sports fan and was often found glued to her TV watching the UCONN Women's Basketball team, if she was not at Gampel or a Big East or AAC Tournament or even the Final Four. She later began following the WNBA so she could continue to watch "her girls."
You could also find her at one of grandchildren's soccer or baseball games, BMX races or dance events where she typically had a library book with her, as she spent all of her quiet time reading, which she enjoyed immensely.
Leila, as she was fondly called by her family, was predeceased by her beloved grandson, Matthew Russo and her sisters Filomena Musacchio, Edith Sileo, Pauline Lovito, Frances Nigro and Mary Roda.
She will be remembered lovingly by her children Doreen Ryan, Camille Lahr, Patrick Russo, Suzanne Sheridan and Mark Russo; her grandchildren: Kate Simpson, Jocelyn Gulick, Billy Ryan, Nicholas Lahr, Sarah Lahr, Cody Sheridan, Victoria Sheridan and Andrew Russo; five great-grandchildren and her siblings Carmela Vatelle, Sabbo Roda and Anna Gallace and many nieces and nephews.
