SOUTHBURY - David Shortt, 58, departed this life on November 10, 2019. He was the beloved husband of Patricia (Gillette) Shortt.
David was born in Southbury,CT on October 24, 1961 to the late John and Mary (Malloy) Shortt. He was the youngest of six brothers and sisters and grew up on his family farm. He graduated Cum Laude from the University of New Haven with a degree in Criminal Justice and then went on to join the CT Police Academy where he graduated at the top of his class. He dedicated his life to being a Police Officer for the New Milford police department and was ultimately promoted to Detective. In 1999, David retired, however his life calling would not let him rest for long. After our country's devastating attack on 9/11, the State of CT hired him as an evidence control officer. He also served as a liaison for state and federal agencies as well as an instructor for all first responders. He was heavily involved in all protocols and procedures. David was awarded the ultimate recognition from the House of Representatives for his honorable and dedicated service to the State of CT.
Beside his wife Patricia, he leaves his daughter Lisa Hartless and her husband Brandon as well as his two grandsons, Logan and Cameron Hartless, who were the reason for his love of life and happiness. He was an exceptional husband, father, father-in-law and grandfather and will be missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.
