David A. Holt, 66, of Naugatuck, passed away unexpectedly on December 16, 2023. He was the loving husband of Pamela (Zink) Holt, with whom he shared 30 beautiful years.
Dave was born on May 26, 1957 in Bridgeport, CT, to the late Gunnar and Alice Holt. His family lived in Shelton, CT until 1965, when they moved to New Hampshire. Years later, they returned to Connecticut and lived in Oxford. Dave was employed by the State of Connecticut, first at the Southbury Training School, then in Stratford, working in maintenance, plumbing, and boiler repair, retiring in 2022. During this time, he met Pam Zink. They married and had 30 years of happiness together. He was always curious about the way things worked-he could take anything apart and put it back together, and was very mechanically inclined. He enjoyed working on antique cars, tractors, and steam engines. Dave loved being outdoors, no matter the season. In winter he rode snow mobiles, skied, and skated. In the warmer months, he swam and fished in nearby lakes and rivers, and rode mini-bikes for endless hours. He could often be seen having a good time with his best friend Matthew “Spud” Hrybynik, and their friend, Jack Daniels. He was also an avid reader and loved cookouts, and celebrating the holidays with his wife Pam and their families. Dave will be remembered for his kind, generous spirit, and will be deeply missed and loved by all who knew him. In addition to his wife Pam, Dave is survived by his brother Jeff Holt and his companion Leah Palmer of Oxford, niece Casey (Chad) Frost and their children, C.J., Gemma, and Jacklynn of New Hampshire. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his best friend “Spud”. The family will receive friends and visitors on Friday, December 29, 2023, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Carpino Funeral Home, 750 Main St. South, Southbury. A memorial prayer service will be held at 5:45 pm and will conclude the visitation. Interment is private and at the convenience of the family. The Carpino Funeral Home of Southbury has been entrusted with the arrangements. To leave a message of remembrance, please visit www.CarpinoCares.com.
