SOUTHBURY - David Michael Franco passed from this world on March 12, 2020, doing what he loved: playing with his dog, Douglas. He had been in the final stages of congestive heart failure due to a Congenital Heart Defect.
He was a graduate of St. Matthew’s School in Hastings-on-Hudson, NY; and Shepaug Valley High School in Washington, CT. Dave was a gifted, self-taught guitar player, and was accepted to the Peabody Conservatory, at John’s Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD. During his 30 years living in Austin, TX, Dave was deeply involved in the Adult Congenital Heart Defect (ACHD) Association, most notably, co-producing with Kevin Johnson, Nicole Vickery and Writer and Director Philip Wolf on the release of the documentary “Silent Cries: Breaking Through CHD Awareness” in 2019. Dave hoped that his contribution to this film could provide light and hope to those born with these defects.
He is survived most directly by his mother: Roseann Franco; sister: Roseann Bischoff; and brothers: Vincent and Philip. He is also survived by his daughter: Sarah Paige Franco of Corpus Christi, TX; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held from 9am-10:30am on Thursday, March 19, 2020, at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 49 South St. in Litchfield, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 10:30am. Burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Brooklyn, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to either the Adult Congenital Heart Association, 280 N Providence Rd #6, Media, PA 19063; or to: https://www.funeralfund.com/project/david-michael-franco-1.
