Catherine Schnepf Tribute

Catherine Mary Schnepf, 96, beloved wife, mother and sister, was called to her eternal resting place on May 26, 2020. She entered this world on May 8, 1924, in New York, New York, born to Joseph Charles and Mary Flavia Zanini. Catherine married George Frank Schnepf on August 28, 1948, in New York, New York, and they were blessed with four sons: George Joseph, Charles Michael, Bryan Francis, and Gregory Paul. Her husband, George, passed on August 21, 2016, in Fort Myers, Florida.

Catherine enjoyed a long and full life. As a self-taught pianist, she contributed her talents to entertaining the troops during World War II and being the life of parties with family and friends. Her nimble fingers also kept her employed throughout the years, including the typing of war bonds, as a keypunch operator at IBM Corporation and later as a document typist, serving various businesses. She raised her four children together with her husband, starting out in New Hyde Park, New York, and later moving to Putnam Valley and then Baldwin Place, also in New York. Subsequently, she and her husband enjoyed retirement in Fort Myers, Florida and traveled around the world, sightseeing and exploring exotic destinations. They also kept a summer residence for a time in Dingmans Ferry, Pennsylvania and later in Port Jervis, New York. In 2016, Catherine relocated to Southbury, Connecticut to be closer to her family after the passing of her husband of 68 years.

Catherine is survived by her sister, Mary Antoinette Camuto of Virginia; her four sons and their spouses: George and Theresa Schnepf of New York, Charles and Kathleen Schnepf of New York, Bryan and Dawn Schnepf of Connecticut, and Gregory Schnepf of New York; plus seven grandchildren: Dina Moroney, Gary Murman, Angel Schnepf, Charles Schnepf Jr, Breanne Schnepf-Hanbury, Ian Schnepf, and Robin Schnepf; and five great-grandchildren: Matthew Moroney, Patrick Moroney, Stevie-Lynn Schnepf, John Schnepf, and Daniel Hanbury.

A private service will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2020, at Carpino Funeral Home, 750 Main Street South, Southbury, Connecticut. A graveservice will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 6, 2020, at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida.
