SOUTHBURY - Anthony Thomas Fonck, born February 6th, 1932, age 91, entered into eternal rest on September 3th, 2023 at the Lutheran Home of Southbury, surrounded by family. He was the beloved husband of Maureen (Enright) Fonck.
Anthony was born in East Hartford, CT to Charles and Josephine (Lebrizzi) Fonck. He attended Harding High School in Bridgeport, CT. After graduating high school, Anthony served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He continued his education at Bridgeport Engineering Institute with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering. Post baccalaureate, he attended the University of Bridgeport where he earned his Masters of Science in Engineering. Anthony was a devoted engineer and educator with a passion in aerothermodynamics. His career consisted of being an Engineer at Avco Lycoming and an Engineering Consultant for the United States Army. In addition, Anthony was very involved as a Dean of Students at the Bridgeport Engineering Institute. Until the age of 88, Anthony enjoyed teaching as a Professor in the Engineering Department at Central Connecticut State University.
Aside from his loving wife Maureen, he is survived by his loving daughters and son-in-law's, Linda and John Cihocki of Southbury, Diane and Arthur Winckler of Old Saybrook, and Mary Jo and Kenneth Norling of Monroe. "Pop" loved and was proud of all his grandchildren: Stephen (Devon), Arthur (Sierra), Allison, Billy, Kelly, Michael (Julia) and great grandson Brayden. Anthony also had a great number of nieces and nephews.
Anthony is also survived by his four step-sons, Joseph (Joanna) of Norwalk, Christopher of Charlotte, NC, Michael (Mylena) of Matthew, NC and David (Amanda) of Ludlow, MA and all of their children: Amanda, Matthew, Adam, Eli, Emmett, Nicholas, and Bryce.
He was preceded in death by his father Charles Fonck and mother Josephine Fonck, his siblings Charles, Joseph, and Christina, as well as his first wife Marion (Hoffman) Fonck.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation from 4:00 - 7:00 PM on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at Carpino Funeral Home, 750 Main Street South in Southbury. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 8, 2023. Interment will immediately follow at Pine Hill Cemetery in Southbury.
