Anna Mae Fournier Tribute

Anna Mae Fournier of Southbury, CT died March 6th in the comfort of her home with her loving family surrounding her. She was the wife of Ernest R. Fournier for 61 years.
Mrs. Fournier was born on May 26, 1928, in New Milford, CT, daughter of the late Philip and Anna (Knight) Rooney. She was a graduate of St. Francis Xavier and New Milford High schools. Before her retirement, she was a bookkeeper for the CL&P Co and the former Hulton Electric Supply Company in New Milford.

Anna Mae and her family moved to Bridgewater in 1956 where they lived for 25 years.  While there, she was active as a Girl Scout leader for several years. After her husband's retirement, they moved to Fairgreen in New Smyrna Beach, Florida for 20 years.  

Mrs. Fournier was a member of the planning committee for a pool at Fairgreen, and the treasurer for Fairgreen Homeowners Pool Association, Inc. for five years after the pool was completed. She also enjoyed bike riding, walking the beach, swimming, reading and was a volunteer at the New Smyrna Beach Library.  

She and her husband moved back north to Heritage Village, Southbury, CT in 2001 where she volunteered at the Southbury and Heritage Village Libraries, enjoyed making new friends and spending fun times with her granddaughter and family.

She is survived by her daughter, Cindee and her husband Robert Hopkins of Roxbury, CT, a granddaughter, Alexa Hopkins and her husband Patrick Phippen of Washington, DC, and a brother James Rooney of Bridgewater.

The family wants to thank Kenisha Henry for the care and love that she gave Anna Mae during her last 6 months of her life and Regional Hospice for the support they provided during her last few weeks.  Mrs. Fournier was a member of the Sacred Heart Church in Southbury, CT.  

Family and friends may visit in the daily chapel of Sacred Heart Church on Friday, March 11 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 AM.  Please wear something bright or floral. Anna Mae would love seeing the church looking like the flowers she so loved. Arrangements have been entrusted to Carpino Funeral Home, 750 Main Street South, Southbury

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Mustard Seed Fund at Sacred Heart Church, 910 Main Street South, Southbury, CT 06488, or Regional Hospice, 30 Milestone Road, Danbury, CT  06810.
