Andrew Michael McGeever, beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully at home on March 13, 2020.
Andy was born in the borough of Manhattan in New York City on April 13, 1942, to Mary and Martin McGeever. He grew up in the South Bronx. He graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School and attended Iona College. He was very proud to serve his country as a Marine. He married, the love of his life, Bridie Cunningham, from County Mayo, Ireland. They were married for fifty five years. They resided and raised their family in Westchester, New York, before relocating to Connecticut.
Andy was a very successful sales and marketing executive for many years. However, the job he cherished was his most recent. He was the Economic Development Director for the town of Oxford, Connecticut. Oxford became his home. He was proud to help the town flourish and thrive.
Andy embraced his Irish heritage and traveled frequently to Ireland. He treasured spending time with friends and family. He truly believed there were no strangers, just friends you haven’t met yet. He was known for his warm smile, helpful advice and his sincere and genuine interest in everyone he met. He was greatly loved by all who knew him and will be sorely missed.
Andy is survived by his wife Bridie, his children Brendan McGeever from Atlanta, Karen Maloney from Fairfield, Connecticut, Andrea Crisculoa from Newtown, Connecticut, his eight grandchildren and his brother John McGeever from Surprise, Arizona.
A funeral mass was held on March 19, 2020, at Sacred Heart Church in Southbury, Connecticut. A Christian burial followed at The Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, New York.
