OXFORD - Joseph Licnikas, 91, departed this life on June 14, 2019 at St. Mary's Hospital. He was the beloved husband of 62 years of the late Anastacia (Tamosaitis) Licnikas.
Joseph was born in Waterbury on November 7, 1927 to the late John and Mary (Maraulis) Licnikas.
Mr. Licnikas had served in the National Guard and worked as a shoe pattern maker for Uniroyal for about 20 years and later worked for Seymour Specialty Wire prior to retirement. He was a Third Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 5066. A lover or learning, he had a great passion for local history. He took great enjoyment from watching the wildlife from his window.
Joseph will be cherished in the memories of his four children: Joseph E. Licnikas Jr. of Oxford, Susan Palomba and her husband Thomas of Oakville, Darlene Salokas and her husband Gary, of Oxford and Kathleen Licnikas of Torrington; four grandchildren: Christina Pulkkinen and her husband Erik, Cynthia Licnikas, Thomas Palomba and his fiancee Carissa Olivera and Nicholas Palomba; his beloved great-grandson: Erik Pulkkinen; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at 11:00 AM at St. John of the Cross Church in Middlebury. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Carpino Funeral Home, 750 Main St. South, Southbury. Interment at Southford Cemetery will be private. It is suggested that contributions in his memory be directed to: St. John of the Cross Church, 1089 Whittemore Rd., Middlebury CT 06762.
