On Friday, September 20, 2019, Edward P Volansky, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away at the age of 85.
Ed was born on Friday, July 13, 1934, weighing 13 pounds and was one of 13 children of the late John and Mary Volansky of DuPont, PA.
He loved his country and his family. Ed “Doc” Volansky enlisted in the Army when he was 18 years old and served in the 25th Division as a combat medic on the front lines of the Korean War. He earned several honors including the Combat Medical Badge, Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, the National Defense Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal.
Ed retired from Uniroyal Chemical with more than 35 years of service holding various positions. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren supporting all their activities. He was interested in all things military, drawing, inventing (he even holds a US patent) and playing lotto.
Ed is survived by his wife of 53 years Christine, his son Edward and wife Deb, his two grandchildren Tyler and Sabella, his sister Lillian, his brother George and several nieces and nephews. He will be remembered for his quick wit and focused determination.
A funeral mass will be held on Friday, October 11th at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Southbury, CT and following the services he will be interred at State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown, CT at 1:00 p.m.
