SOUTHBURY - Edward A. Currie, 85, died on Wednesday, February 13, 2019. He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara Neil Currie.
Edward had a long career in industrial and commercial real estate which he served for over fifty years. For fifteen years prior to this he worked as a Corporate Real Estate Director with Uniroyal where he had world-wide responsibility. In addition to this, Edward worked in Uniroyal’s Employee Housing Division where he assisted in the moving of 1,500 employees from New York and New Jersey to the new corporate headquarters in Middlebury, CT.
Edward was a jack-of-all trades who restored homes both large and small in Connecticut, enjoying many of the building trades. He also enjoyed farming at Poverty Farm and restoring antique cars, particularly Model A’s and Thunderbirds. His favorite restoration is a total restoration of a 1931 Model A Cabriolet. Edward was an avid golfer and had played 83 of the top 100 private golf courses in the US and Scotland. His favorite place to golf was Western Hills in Waterbury, CT. Edward’s other enjoyments include playing the piano, and piloting small aircraft for business and pleasure throughout New England. His favorite places to fly were Nantucket, Martha’s Vineyard and Block Island.
Edward is survived by his late wife’s nephew, Lance Trickey of Salem, NH and Pamela Trickey of Newtown, CT. Services are private.
