Vincent G. Defenthis, Jr. of Southbury, CT died peacefully of natural causes on September 6, 2021. He was 90 years old. Vin was born in Brooklyn, the youngest of Francis and Vincent Defenthis's four children.
After getting his fashion design degree from the Fashion Institute of Technology, Vin went to work as a clothing designer and pattern maker in the garment industry, designing mostly women's clothing, including lingerie. Later in his career, Vin designed clothing for J. Crew. Impeccably dressed and outgoing, Vin made friends easily, loved the opera, and enjoyed art, theatre, antiques, and his cars.
Vin was blessed with two life partners. His first, Bynum George "Pat" Patterson, was tragically killed in 1975. His second, Tomás Stephens, and he were together for over 20 years until Tomás's passing in 2000. Vin was preceded in death by his siblings, Anthony Defenthis and Claire Grottano. He is survived by his sister, Maria Spage, and loving nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 15, 2021 at Sacred Heart Church, 910 Main Street South in Southbury. Interment will be private.
