Richard Neilson

We are sad to announce the passing of Richard Neilson. Richard died of natural causes on Sunday, June 14, 2020 in Southbury, CT. Richard was born in Nottingham, England on November 30, 1924. He came to fame as the British Junior Table Tennis Champion and at age 14 made his way to London where he quickly found work as a young actor in the British Repertoire System and the flourishing British film industry. In the early 1950’s Richard migrated to New York City to continue his acting career where he was continuously employed until his retirement in 1996. He is remembered for his many performances as Cornel Pickering opposite Douglas Fairbanks Jr. in My Fair Lady and as Derek Jacobi’s understudy in several American stage productions. Richard was an avid golf and tennis player and resided with his wife in Sherman, CT for close to sixty years. Richard is survived by his wife, Luce and his brother William. He will be missed.
