Phyllis Antos Tribute

SOUTHBURY - Phyllis Antos, 84, of Southbury, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, February 17, 2021, just 4 days short of her 85th birthday.

Phyllis was born in Derby on February 21, 1936 to the late Joseph and Catherine (Guzior) Antos.  She loved being outdoors, constantly gardening and working on her home.  Friends and neighbors would always stop to comment on how well she kept her yard. Phyllis also loved her work.  As a member of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth for over thirty years, she served in several educational ministries as teacher and administrator. In the past 40 years she has continued in this work, touching the lives of all whom she had contact with.  Just to name a few, she was a teacher/principal at St. Mark's in Stratford, St. Michael's in Derby, St. Mary Magdalene in Oakville, St. James in Stratford, All Saints in Norwalk, and St. Joseph's in Winsted.  In each of her ministries, and continuing into the rest of her life, she brought and zealously shared her faith and conviction of God's love for all, uplifting the lives of many of her students and all she met.

Phyllis will be missed by her dear friend Melanie Nachajska of Southbury; siblings: Jane Gordiski of Ansonia, Josephine Bogdanski-McKaige of Stamford, and Stan Antos of Hamden; nieces and nephews: Margaret (Paul) Brozek of MA, Tricia (Matthew) Proctor of Ansonia, Mary Jane (George) Tokash of Hamden, Ronald Gordiski of Naugatuck, Brian Bogdanski of Fairfield, Ted (Marybeth) Bogdanski of N.J., Terry (Warren) Bernstein of Greenwich, Katherine Antos (Ken Walters) of North Haven, Jacqueline (Ben) Michaud of Wallingford, Joseph (Irena) Antos of Trumbull, and Liz (Brian) Woods of N.Y.; as well as several great-nieces, great-nephews, and extended family members.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am on Saturday, February 20, 2021, at Sacred Heart Church, 910 Main Street South in Southbury.  Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation prior to mass from 8:30am-9:30am at the Carpino Funeral Home, 750 Main Street South in Southbury.  Interment will be private and will take place at St. Michael's Cemetery in Derby.  Memorial contributions in Phyllis' name can be directed to a charity of one's choice.  For directions, or to leave a message of remembrance, please visit www.CarpinoCares.com.
