SOUTHBURY - Maryann A. McCloskey, 81, of Heritage Village, Southbury, CT, formerly of Rockville Centre, Long Island, died suddenly on April 23, 2024, following a brief illness.

Maryann was born in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of the late Hugh A. and Catherine (Hogan) McCloskey.  She graduated from Molloy College, Rockville Centre receiving her B.S.
Maryann spent her career with British Airways where she worked for 32 years.  She was the righthand to the chairman working as Customer Executive before retiring in 2000.   While there Maryann served on the Board of Directors for the Employee Federal Credit Union where she worked tirelessly to maximize the savings of her fellow employees.  She retired as Chairman of the Credit Union.

In 2001 Maryann and her sister Catherine moved to Heritage Village, Southbury, CT.  There she became involved with Village governance, serving on many committees.  She loved the Village and worked to improve and beautify the experience for the residents.  In 2023 after leading her condo as president for 20 years, Maryann retired.  

An avid needle pointer and knitter, Maryann loved to read and has travelled the world.  Besides her beloved sister Catherine with whom she lived, Maryann is survived by Hugh (Kathleen) McCloskey, Mark (Mary) McCloskey, Sarah (Edward) Kearns, Agnes (Vladis) Salamon, Joseph (Ginette) McCloskey, 26 nieces and nephews, and 34 grand nieces and nephews.  Besides her parents, Maryann was preceded in death by her brother John F. McCloskey.

A visitation will be held from 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at Carpino Funeral Home, 750 Main Street South in Southbury, CT.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 29, 2024 at Sacred Heart Parish, 910 Main Street South in Southbury.  Interment will follow at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale, Long Island.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.  For directions, or to leave a message of remembrance, please visit www.CarpinoCares.com.
