WATERBURY - Mary Ann Rhodes, 83, passed away May 8, 2022 at her home in Waterbury, CT with her devoted husband by her side.
She was born July 16, 1938 in Elmira, NY to Michael and Marian Novick. In Elmira, she met her husband Don of 62 years while attending St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing. Soon after being married they became long-time residents of Torrington, CT.
Mary Ann was the caring mother of David, Mark, Kevin, and Kyle Rhodes. During their childhood, she was a Torrington school nurse.
In later years, she was involved in many civic and social organizations such as the St. Francis and Immaculate Heart of Mary churches as a folk group singer, the Warner Theater as a lead usher, and the Red Hat Society. She had a large circle of lifelong friends both in Connecticut and where they later wintered in Kissimmee, Florida. She enjoyed golfing, gardening, boating, traveling, and being with friends and family.
She will be remembered for her strength, thoughtfulness, and intelligence. She ended her time being full of smiles, waves, and warm greetings. As a Catholic, she believed that she is now in her eternal home.
There will be a private family graveside service. Friends are invited to remember her at an open house with the family at the home of Kevin Rhodes on Saturday, May 14th, 2022 anytime between 1-4pm at 154 Woodland Hills Road, Southbury, CT.
