SOUTHBURY - Lawrence "Larry" Reginald Kibbe was born on February 27, 1949 in New Milford, CT. His parents, George and Esther Kibbe, brought Larry into the world on a fateful night that left him with a disability and forever changed the course of our family. He was the third child with five siblings. Larry lived at Southbury Training School where he had many friends and participated in many community programs including Meals on Wheels in which he helped to deliver much needed food to the elderly. Larry had a special gift of sincerity with an uncommon capacity for gentleness and helpfulness that made everyone who came to know him, love him. Years ago Larry became the Honorary Mayor of the Training School because he loved to greet, shake hands and engage with people who he met out in the public. Tragically he contracted the corona virus around Christmas and ultimately succumbed to its power on January 5, 2021. He is predeceased by his parents, George and Esther, his sister Bonnie and many aunts, uncles. He is survived by brothers - Marshall (Sue), Scott, his sisters - Ceceile Hanyckyj (Marty), Michelle Gershkovich (Roman), as well as nieces and nephews - Elijah, Aubrie, Sarah, Steven and Katherine; grandnieces/nephews - Amanda, Gabriella, Olivia, Robby, Turner, Sawyer and Asa. Our family wishes to extend our heartfelt thanks to the STS staff for all of their amazing love, care and dedication to our brother and all the residents there. We would also like to thank the staff at Danbury Hospital for their incredible compassion and who tried tirelessly to save his life. The care our brother received was exemplary, especially during this dreadful and horrific pandemic. Donations in Larry's name can be made to The STS Foundation, The STS Home and School Association, The Danbury Hospital and The Connecticut Cancer Foundation. Due to the Coronavirus, a graveside service will be held at a later date.
