John Rudy Cannizzaro, 95, died peacefully on November 8, 2020. John was born on May 21, 1925 in Manhattan, NY to the late Andrew and Marie (Cappenetto) Cannizzaro. John married the love of his life Veronica Cotters on October 23, 1949, who predeceased him on February 29, 2012.
John served in the United States Navy during WWll from 1943-1946 as a First-Class Seaman on the USS Tangiers.
He was a great dad to his two sons Andrew and his wife Olga and Jack and his wife Jen. A much-loved grandpa to his six grandchildren Scott and his wife Laura, Alexis and her husband Vincent, Caitlin, Taylor, J.J. and Stephen and great grandpa to Crosby and Rivers, and uncle to many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 17 at 11 AM at Sacred Heart Church, 910 Main St. South in Southbury, CT. Followed by interment with military honors at CT State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown, CT. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation prior to Mass from 9:30 – 10:30 AM at Carpino Funeral Home, 750 Main St. South, Southbury, CT.
