Charles Bernard Wilson

SOUTHBURY - Charles Bernard Wilson, "Chuck", age 73, passed away Saturday February 20, 2021 due to complications related to COVID-19 (or as the family says "The Vid"). He was born June 14, 1947 in Niagara Falls, New York to William and Aramenta. He married his love and longtime best friend in Oahu, Hawaii, Bonnie Jean Sabia, on August 25, 1984.

Chuck always followed his heart, which led him to start a life with Bonnie and his children in Hawaii. He was an entrepreneur at his core and was determined to always work for himself. He was also determined to put his children first and protect them ferociously. In doing so, he sometimes provided questionable, yet courageous, advice to his children, like the time he advised his elementary school daughter that if the teachers did not pay attention to her being bullied, to simply leave and come find him at work - the No Name Bar that he and Bonnie founded. Bonnie did not appreciate that advice.

Chuck's hobbies included golfing, the beach, photography - anything that he could enjoy with as little movement as possible to relax, yet just enough to enjoy a cigar, as many of you know. He was passionate about people and listening to their stories, often taking them under his wing to provide any guidance he could give. He was a thoughtful man, with endless ways to find just the right words if you were down - often ending his dialogues with an endearing and deep chuckle that made you feel at ease and would brighten your day no matter how down you may have felt.

He could be described as nothing less than a gentle giant whose compassion was only matched by his passion to live a life in which he worked so incredibly hard to build. Chuck would ask you to remember his life mottos: "que sera, sera" and "attitude is everything". The former being the one you could constantly catch him humming or singing throughout the day, humming mostly because we're pretty sure he only knew the chorus and the latter which could be found displayed in every house we ever lived in, as a daily reminder of the mindset that had led him to be the successful man he was in life both personally and professionally.

Chuck's biggest goal in life was to give his family a life he never had and endless, unconditional, love. He succeeded in both and is a spirit that can never be replaced. His family will miss him greatly. 

Charles is survived by his wife Bonnie; his four children Elicia Jean Malia, Gena Marie Ku'ulani, Taylor Charles and Jason-Michael Bernard; his sisters Aramenta Wilson Lee, Yvonne Mahone. Chuck joins his parents and his brothers (Willie and Dennis, who both passed from COVID-19).
We want to thank all our friends and extended family for the kind words and numerous flowers, fruit baskets, and food we have received. It is great to see the many lives Chuck touched.
A special thank you to the people at Connecticut Hospice in Branford, CT for their loving care and support during his final days. The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude

A Celebration of life will be held on Sunday, February 20, 2022 at 12:00 PM at Carpino Funeral Home, 750 Main St. South, Southbury.
