Catherine Caroline Maynard passed on Saturday, January 1, 2022 at her home in Southbury, Connecticut. Catherine “Kay” was born in Manhattan, New York to Josefina and Ferdinand on April 13, 1928. Catherine lived in Yorkville throughout her youth, attending school where she formed lifelong friendships, and working to allow herself every opportunity to travel, mainly to Europe. An avid skier and swimmer, Catherine enjoyed God’s nature.
Her passion for adventure and the outdoors led her to meet the love of her life, Wilfred Maynard. Catherine and Wilfred married two months after meeting, on April 24, 1964 and soon after, settled into their home in Warwick, New York. In the years to follow, Wilfred and Catherine had two daughters, Michele Claire and Suzanne Marie. She and her family resided in Warwick until they moved to Southbury in 2006 to be closer to their daughter and granddaughter, Suzanne Katherine.
Catherine was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and a caring friend to many. Her family will forever remember her loving nature, wonderful sense of humor, and zest for life. Catherine is predeceased by her husband, Wilfred and daughter, Suzanne. She is survived by her daughter, Michele and granddaughter, Suzanne, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She will be laid to rest with her beloved husband at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Danbury, Connecticut.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, January 8, 2021, from 10:00 to 10:45 AM at Sacred Heart Church in Southbury. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place at St. Peter's Cemetery in Danbury.
