SOUTHBURY - Arlene T. (Belanger) Lancor, 84, formerly of Cheshire, our mother, Mèmè, and great-grandmother, widow of Everett Lancor, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at River Glen Health Care Center in Southbury.
Arlene was born on August 27, 1934 in Springfield, MA. Her ambition was to become a nurse, but along came love, so she married Everett in 1954 and had 50 wonderful years together. She took on the task of being a housewife and raised 5 outstanding children. She was an awesome cook and baker, and we all have sweet memories of the cookies, cakes, and pies she made for us. Life was good for mom and dad. They had the opportunity to travel extensively visiting many places in the USA and around the world. They were original members of the Disney Vacation Club and would take many trips over the years to Disney World. Two family reunions in 1996 and 2004 were highlights of such great trips.
Arlene had a special place in her heart for dogs. She and Everett raised two champion Gordon Setters (Keeper and Jaime). After Everett passed away in 2005, Arlene was comforted by her dear Cocker Spaniel, Max. She also loved her cats and her favorite was Pepper.
Arlene is loved and will be missed dearly by her 5 children: Mark (Diane), Steven (Ann Marie), Paul (Lisa), Helene, Matthew (Raye Ann); 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother: Gerald (Dottie) Belanger; step-sisters: Patty (Bruce) Forsyth, Pamela (Jimmy) Grasso; a nephew: Jay (Mia) Belanger; and a niece: Lori (Barbara) Belanger.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Tuesday, July 9, 2019, in the Sacred Heart Church daily chapel, 910 Main Street. S. in Southbury. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 10, 2019, at the Sacred Heart Church. A private graveside service will be held the following day.
Arlene’s family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the entire staff of the River Glen Health Care Center. Their kindness and compassion meant so much to all of them.
