Anthony Carlo DeBerardinis

Southbury.  Anthony “Tony” Carlo DeBerardinis, 70, died Monday, July 22, 2019 at his home after a long illness.  He was born in Stamford on May 7, 1949, to the late Carlo and Mary (Fiorelli) Caminiti  DeBerardinis.  In December, 1954 he came to live at the Southbury Training School.

Mr. DeBerardinis was a friendly and playful gentleman with a wonderful sense of humor and a great smile.  He enjoyed joking around with others, and loved music, movies, table-top games, ball play, sporting events and being outdoors.  He had nice relationships with his caregivers and his day program instructor.  He had been involved with the same day program, which he truly enjoyed, for over twenty years.  He also enjoyed music therapy sessions.

Mr. DeBerardinis’ family would like to thank the residential and medical staff at Southbury Training School for their loving and compassionate care.  He will be missed by his family and the many friends and staff persons who have had the pleasure to know and work with him.

In addition to his parents, Mr. DeBerardinis was predeceased by his sister Florence; his sister-in-law Grace Caminiti, and his brother-in-law Kalani Nakoa.  He is survived by his brothers Pepe Caminiti of Lady Lake, FL; Natale Caminiti (Pauline) of East Windsor, and his sisters Nancy Kopec (Robert) of St. Petersburg, FL and Jenny Nakoa of Lady Lake, FL as well as several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are through Carpino Funeral Home, Southbury.  Burial will be private at New North Cemetery, Woodbury.  A memorial service is planned for STS on August 23rd.
