SOUTHBURY - Madeleine C. Carty, 95, of Heritage Village, passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, February 16th, in the afternoon surrounded by her children and grandson.
Madeleine will be greatly missed by her six children, eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Three of her children reside in the local area: her daughter, Chantal Fisher, her daughter, Marie Simonetti with her husband Jim, her son James Fisher and his son Jeremy. Her son Alex Fisher, and his wife Linda, reside in New Mexico. Her daughter Christiane Murphy, and her husband Jim, reside in Florida. Her son, Philip Fisher, resides with his wife Valerie, in Texas.
Madeleine was born January 7, 1925 in Marseille, France. She was better known as the flower lady and gardener of Woodvale Drive, in Heritage Village. She lived in Heritage Village for the past 16 years and prior to that lived in Danbury, CT for over twenty years. Madeleine enjoyed cooking, gardening, knitting and spending time with her family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 21, 2020 at 12:00 PM at Sacred Heart Church in Southbury. Friends may call on the family Friday morning prior to the Mass at Carpino Funeral Home, 950 Main St. South, Southbury from 10:30-11:30 AM. Burial will take place in the spring at St. Mary's Cemetery in Ridgefield. It is suggested that contributions in her memory be directed to Sacred Heart Church or Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Hartford.
