Mary Ann Cote Tribute

SOUTHBURY - Mary Ann (Ditter) Cote, a long time resident of Southbury, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on September 14, 2019. She leaves behind her husband of 50 years, George W. Cote, Jr.

She lived in Southbury since the second grade and attended the consolidated school system. She was part of the first graduating class from Southbury High School in 1956 with only 19 students. After graduation, she worked at United Shoe Machinery as an office assistant. After the birth of her first child, William, she became a stay at home mom and worked part-time at Heritage Village as a caregiver. She was very active in Sacred Heart Church. She has been a member of Sacred Heart since the second grade and made her First Communion with 4 other children. During her lifetime, she was a Eucharistic minister, part of Extend-a-Hand, a member of the Resurrection Choir and she worked on the expansion committee for the Columbiettes for many years. The Columbiettes were her second family and she enjoyed all the times she spent with her special friends.

Her most precious moments were with her grandchildren. She would get so excited when they were coming for a visit or when she went to visit them in Bethlehem and MA. She went on many outings with them, Cape Cod vacations, Christmas Shows in Boston, New York City, Bethlehem and Springfield fairs and even to a Red Sox game. She just loved being with her family.

She is survived by her husband, George and her son, William Cote and his wife Tricia of Bethlehem and their daughter Kayla; her daughter, Kristina Folan and her husband Dennis of Medfield, MA and their children Dennis, Ariana and Jack. She also leaves behind her brother Frank Ditter and his wife Barbara. Her nephews Frank Ditter and his wife Jean and Stephen Ditter and his wife Dayna.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 19th at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Church, 910 Main St S, Southbury, CT. The family will receive visitors at the church chapel prior to Mass from 9 to 10:30 am. Interment will take place following Mass at Pine Hill Cemetery, Southbury.
